The basic element of my painting is to search the relation between form and the space around, which takes us to the new visual experience, says artist Yashwant Deshmukh for whom exploration of space on canvas is a passion and a mission. His latest solo show to be hosted in the last of week of this month (April 2006) in Mumbai has 14 new works, mostly acrylic on canvas. Last year, he had exhibited paper works. Though the medium has changed, the artist has explored his favorite theme in his new series of works. Born in Akola district of Maharashtra in 1963, Yashwant Deshmukh, currently based in Mumbai, completed his Bachelor of Fine Art from Sir. J. J. School Of Art, Mumbai (1983-88). In a career spanning close to two decades, the talented artist has crossed many milestones. In 1993, he won Bendre- Husain Scholarship Award, Mumbai. In 2001 he was Invited to participate at: "3rd Biennial Bose Pacia Modern Prize, " The Exhibition Of Paintings Organized By Bose Pacia Modern, New York (USA). Just recently, his works were showcased as part of group show 'The India art show 2006’ curated by Kalpana Shah at The Chapel Gallery, Singapore. Among his major solo shows are the ones at Gallery Jean Cocteau, Alliance Francaise de Bombay, in association with Cymroza Gallery, Mumbai (1996) Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (1997,2003) at Bombay Art Gallery,Mumbai(2005). He has participatedin a number of group shows, including 'Seven For Seven exhibition of paintings by seven International artists, sponsored by Gallery-7,
