Abir

Born in 1977, Abir obtained his MFA (Sculpture Major) from MSU, Baroda, with a First Class, in 2001 and his BFA (Sculpture Major) with a Second Class, in 1999. He was an exchange student at the Ecoles des Beaux Arts’ Caen, Normande, France in 1998. He has shown extensively in India in the years between 1995 – 2005, both in solo and group shows. Abir has vast experience having worked with PR Daroz in Delhi; trained and worked at the Traditional Copper Beaters, Tambats, Pune since 2001. He has been art director on Priyanka Sood’s and Dhiraj Mashram’s Diploma film at the FTII,Pune, 2003; publicity designs for “Devi” Ahilabai feature film, 2003. Abir read a paper on the copper beating tradition, organized by INTACH, IIID and IFI, which culminated with an international exhibition 2003, the objectivebeing to use traditional craft for modernapplications. He has worked with architects Neusarkar and Lele (Pune) and designer Olle Anderson (Sweden) and in 2002, as ceramic pottery and sculpture apprentice with German ceramist Volker Bauer, at his studio in Berlin. He also worked as assistant director for properties and set designing in pre-production for Hindi feature film “Devi”. Abir did the set design for the play “Fossils”, performed in Baroda 1996, directed by Arun Agnihotri. From 1995-2001, he worked with studio potter, Nirmala Patwardhan and from 1994-1995,Abir had an apprenticeship with an uses it now. In 1994, this automobile repair team where he finally repaired and reassembled a Jawa motorcycle,which was such a success, he still enterprising young artist was actor and assistant in Marati feature film “Limited Manuski”, produced by NFDC and DDK. Abir Patwardhan lives and works in Pune, India.
