Ashok Kumar Gopalan

, born 1971, Kerala, is a Post Graduate in Graphic Art (MF) from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, 2001. He has participated in many group shows, some of which are Tracing Erasures - Durbar Hall, Kochi, 2008; The Wonder that was India – Tyler Art Gallery, Philadelphia, 2006; India-Japan Exchange Exhibition of Prints–Saga Art College,Japan,1999 & 2001,among others.Gopalan has shown his lithography solo at Kashi Art Café, Kochi, 2006 and had a solo show at Kerala Lalith Kala Akademi, 2001. Awards and scholarships include the Jackson Pollock-Krasner Award of Professional Grant, New York, 2008; State Award by Kerala Lalith Kala Akademi, Thrissur, 2007; the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society State Award, New Delhi, 2003;Merit Scholarship,Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, 1999-2000 and the Raja Ravi Varma Honourable Mention, from the Raja Ravi Varma Cukltural Society, Kilmanoor, 1997 & 1999. He lives and works in Hosur, India.
